What is Paving?

Paving is not simply for the construction industry and those doing the roads!

Neither is it something that only comes in those grey pieces of stone that most people think about when they hear the term "paving"!

Paving comes in a fantastic variety of sizes, colours, materials, content and designs! You can really get creative with your paving and when you know just how many different qualities you can achieve by choosing the appropriate paving material you will be amazed!

Brick Paving

This is what most people think about when they think paving. But what you wont necessarily realise is that paving doesn't have to be boring square blocks all over the area to be covered. Instead you can create circular patterns around a seating area, you can create random patterns or follow curves and twists to create a very decorative style without moving away from a traditional grey stone colouring to keep your area from being too modern.

Concrete paving is an excellent way to keep a traditional look to your driveway or patio area. The concrete is kept in its natural form and stones of various sizes and shapes produced from it for you to create your ideal design.

Limestone Paving

Limestone is a medium-grey rock material that has a great natural quality to it and keeps a traditional countryside feeling to any property and moves away from the standard light grey of city scape colours.

Granite Paving

Granite is a material with a fantastic array of random natural qualities which gives it such a warm and natural effect on its surroundings. It is often used for kitchen worktops and floors because it is a very hard material yet shows true beauty of natural rock.

You can get pink and grey granite, or granite with a range between the two colours depending on the chemicals and individual crystals in the rock. Slate Paving

Slate is derrived from a sedimentary rock made from clay. It is widely used as roofing tiles and gravestones because of its natural ability to roll off water and wash away dirt and contaminants. Therefore if you want to keep your property in keeping with your roof colours, or you are concerned about washing away dirt and mud etc, perhaps because you are living in a countryside area or your property frequently has dust, sand, gravel, or mud then slate would be a great choice for you because it is easy to clean and provides a low maintenance driveway.

Asphalt Paving

Asphalt is a mixture of mineral aggregate and bitumen which is used widely in the United Kingdom for the resurfacing of roads and driveways. People are using Asphalt more and more these days because of its modern composition to resist the weather changes and frequent use. Freeze-thaw damage is not as much of a problem these days as it has been in the past because of the modern asphalt composition. Whilst it is necessary to resurface driveways or patios that are made with asphalt, it is a much cheaper alternative but also for your own use in your property driveway you would see a great many years out of this material regardless.
